What is a NuvaLift™?

A NuvaLift is a minimally invasive, safe and effective non-surgical procedure that results in a subtle,
rested and natural-looking appearance. Tiny "feather like" threads, made from a material that has been safely used in the body for years in other medical products, are inserted and adjusted under the skin to tighten, reposition and stimulate collagen production to the skin around the eyes, neck, lip and/or brow.

Would I be a good candidate for a NuvaLift™?

If you have noticed moderate drooping of the soft tissues of the brow, face or neck, are in good medical health, are within typical height/weight standards and are not taking certain medications, you may be a good candidate for a NuvaLift™. This procedure does not replace a conventional facelift, however; approximately 80% of candidates for a traditional facelift would be good candidates for the NuvaLift™.

What can I expect at my consultation?

Dr. Martens will discuss your candidacy, expectations of results you desire, risks, what to expect during
the procedure and address any concerns that you may have.

If I am a good candidate for a NuvaLift™, what would happen next?

If after consulting with Dr. Martens, it is determined that a NuvaLift™ could produce the results you
desire, Dr. Martens will advise you on how to prepare for the procedure and what to expect during the recovery period. Then you could schedule an appointment for you procedure.

What can I expect during the procedure?

You will be fully awake during the entire procedure. Dr. Martens will map out insertion points and a
local anesthetic will be applied to ensure your comfort. Dr. Martens will commence with insertions of the NuvaLift ™ threads. Halfway through the procedure, the Dr. will offer you a mirror to compare and see
the immediacy of results.

How long does the procedure take?

In most cases the NuvaLift™ can be performed in less than an hour.

Is the NuvaLift™ safe

Yes, the NuvaLift™ is safe. Dr. Martens was personally trained by Dr. Gustavo Leibaschoff, one of the pioneers of the procedure. This is a non-surgical procedure that uses inert, non-reactive threads which have been used in brain, heart and abdominal surgeries for years. The threads are specifically designed
to remain in the body for life and can be removed in the rare incidence of reaction. Because the NuvaLift™
is performed under a local anesthetic, there are none of the risks associated with a general anesthetic.

Does it hurt?

Pain and discomfort are very minimal with this procedure and clients may elect to take a pain reliever
such as Tylenol. In most cases, ice compresses are recommended for the first 24-48 hours.

What kind and when, should I expect results?

You will notice results immediately, especially when looking in the mirror midway through the procedure. Improvements will continue gradually for a few weeks following the procedure, while new collagen forms around the threads, causing a continuous and desirable tightening effect. You can expect to look rested with a natural refreshed look. Clients report unsolicited comments from friends and family like, “have you lost weight?” and “you look really rested lately.”

How long will the results last?

You can expect the results to last from 3 to 5 years. The threads will continue to slow any future droopiness even after the obvious desirable results have faded. The NuvaLift™ procedure can be
repeated and does not compromise any options in the event a facelift is desired in the future.

When can I return to normal activities?

Depending on your job and your tolerance for some potential bruising and/or swelling, you can return to work or other activities within 2-3 days following the procedure. In most cases, makeup can be applied
as soon as the next day.

What are some of the risks or possible complications of a NuvaLift™?

Risks include an allergic reaction to the anesthetic, hematoma, seroma, infection, palpability of the threads resulting in a telltale line. Sometimes a thread end may poke through the skin or dislodging of the thread may occur, resulting in a lopsided or crooked result (asymmetry), if either of these occurs, you would immediately contact us to schedule an appointment to address the issue.

What other cosmetic procedures can this procedure be combined with?

The NuvaLift™ is a stand alone procedure. However, it is not uncommon to have this procedure combined with Botox to reduce facial muscle activity, dermal fillers that enhance volume, peels and/or laser therapy
to improve skin texture.
